What to say in a apology letter

- 4The specific change you are making, not a promise to "do better".
One thing to skip: Avoid the word "if". "I'm sorry if you were hurt" undoes the entire letter. Also avoid explaining yourself before apologising — reasons read as excuses when they come first.
